Responsive Web Design

One framework. Every device.

Bootstrap easily and efficiently scales your websites and applications with a single code base, from phones to tablets to desktops with CSS media queries.

What is bootstrap web design?

Bootstrap is a free and open-source front-end web framework for designing websites and web applications. It contains HTML- and CSS-based design templates for typography, forms, buttons, navigation and other interface components, as well as optional JavaScript extensions. The image-handling routines are able to pick-and-choose images based upon screen size or simply scale the image size to fit the allotted display area.

Who made bootstrap?

Mark Otto and Jacob Thornton (aka @mdo and @fat) jointly cooked up front-end Web app development toolkit Bootstrap while working at Twitter. They both decided to leave the social networking company after 2.5 years.

What is a bootstrap theme?

Simply put, Bootstrap is a template. It's an HTML5 & CSS3 framework that was developed by Twitter. Bootstrap is a toolkit to help you create awesome and responsive websites and web applications. It comes with HTML, CSS, and Javascript already built in, which you can customize to your heart's content.

Grid system and responsive design comes standard with an 1170 pixel wide grid layout. Alternatively, the developer can use a variable-width layout. For both cases, the toolkit has four variations to make use of different resolutions and types of devices: mobile phones, portrait and landscape, tablets and PCs with low and high resolution. Each variation adjusts the width of the columns.

Bootstrap provides a set of stylesheets that provide basic style definitions for all key HTML components. These provide a uniform, modern appearance for formatting text, tables and form elements.

Re-usable Components

In addition to the regular HTML elements, Bootstrap contains other commonly used interface elements. The components are implemented as CSS classes, which must be applied to certain HTML elements in a page.
